Questo è il 100° post di Missplan, e questo è un piccolo traguardo.
Traguardo diverso è quello di Diario che, con il numero di dicembre, chiuderà i battenti. Perché?
NaNoWriMo
NaNoWriMo sta per National Novel Writing Month, e ha l’obiettivo di liberarsi di tutte le scuse per cui uno scrittore non scrive, e scrivere. Per la precisione, scrivere un romanzo di 50,000 parole (175 pagine) tra il 1° e il 30 novembre.
Sigh
Lo so che ha ragione, ma… sigh.
“Uno dei problemi è che facciamo finta che il digitale sia una seconda versione di quel che è stampato,” ha detto [Richard] Charkin [direttore esecutivo della Bloomsbury Publishing, la casa editrice che nel Regno Unito pubblica, tra l'altro, Harry Potter]. “Tra 10 anni ci sarà pochissima stampa nell’editoria scientifica”.
Inoltre archiviare i libri cartacei ha un costo “enorme” per le biblioteche, e i libri elettronici potrebbero essere molto utili in tal senso, ha detto.

E-book: Per l’ennesimo anno, “Premio Cenerentola.” Ma ho finalmente visto qualche Principe Azzurro con una scarpetta in mano.
Visto che non voglio certo rimanere indietro, prometto di ascoltare un audiobook (so già quale) e leggere un e-book (più problematico ma ho un’idea) entro fine anno.

Ieri Obama ha fatto visita alla scuola elementare Viers Mill, di Silver Spring, Maryland, dove la lettura sta in cima alla scala delle priorità. I giornali italiani hanno subito notato che pure lui legge Harry Potter alle figlie. Io noto che dice “lavorate sodo per arrivare al college”, non “andate al college per diventare ricchi”. Ah, la crisi dei valori.

THE PRESIDENT: So you guys are readers. And so, being a reader myself, I wanted to come meet all these outstanding readers. Because you guys are reading so much and you’re working so hard, you guys are doing great in terms of your test scores and how this school is doing. And so this was just a great example of how much improvement a school can make just in a really short time when you’ve got motivated kids.
So I wanted to come by and introduce myself, to say I’m very proud of you. I am hoping that you guys will continue to read, read, read, and that all of you are going to be really working hard not just this year but all the way through high school and then all the way through college, because how many people here plan to go to college? Everybody, right? I just wanted to make sure everybody’s going to college. But that means everybody’s going to have to work hard.
So here’s what I’m going to do. I didn’t want to give a long speech. What I’m going to do is I’m just going to come around, I’m going to shake people’s hands, I’m going to say hi to folks, and I’m sure that somebody out there is going to be taking a bunch of pictures. (Laughter.) And you guys can tell me what you’ve been reading. All right? So get ready to tell me what you’ve been reading lately and what’s going on. All right? Okay, guys.

Ovviamente, da ragazzina guardavo A tutto volume con Alessandra Casella. In un momento amarcord oggi ho scoperto, dalla sua sparuta pagina su wikipedia, che ha ideato e dirige Booksweb TV… evviva!
Chi butteresti giù dalla torre?
Secondo l’Osservatorio contenuti digitali 2009, pubblicato dall’AIE, il 34% degli italiani dichiara che potrebbe tranquillamente rinunciare ai libri. Ma non buttiamoci giù*: il 49% non batte ciglio all’idea di vivere senza film (mentre solo il 19% farebbe a meno della TV e il 16% della costante informazione di telegiornali, web, radio ecc.).
*sono arrivata alla slide successiva: gli italiani che hanno letto almeno un libro nell’ultimo anno sono scesi (!) dal 60 al 56%. Vuol dire che 2 milioni di persone, in Italia, hanno letto un libro nel 2008 e poi niente. Magari buttarci no, ma un po’ di nutella o un mojito fuori stagione sì.
5 milioni di copie
Come si fanno 5 milioni di copie di un libro? Più o meno come se ne fanno mille, solo che evidentemente ci si possono permettere parecchie lavorazioni interessanti sulla cover (trancia metalizzata e compagnia cantando).
